Press release -
West Midlands Railway joins fight against domestic abuse
West Midlands Railway (WMR) is joining the fight against domestic abuse by teaming up with campaigners to offer victims quick access to information while browsing online.
The operator has added the Online Safe Spaces widget to the bottom of every page on its website in support of the UK SAYS NO MORE campaign.
The link helps victims of domestic and sexual abuse to access specialist support and information quickly and safely through partner websites without leaving a 'digital footprint' or browsing history.
The concept was developed during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic in response to the rising numbers of domestic abuse victims trapped at home with their abusers and has continued to grow.
Angela Prescott, health, safety, security and environment director at WMR, said:
"Having just started my role here I couldn’t be happier to begin my journey with the company as it pioneers such a valuable and potentially lifesaving tool.
“Safety is at the heart of everything we do so by adding this widget to our site we hope to offer our help to our customers and in a small way be there to offer victims of abuse a lifeline when they need it most.”
