Rail passengers urged to check before travelling this Christmas

Passengers using London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway services are being advised to check their journeys over the Christmas period as engineering works and reduced timetables will affect journeys on some routes.

West Midlands Trains and the RMT have formulated a settlement agreement covering the role of conductors on the new trains. This will now be subject to a workforce referendum. In the mean time, the remaining strikes have been suspended. However the agreement has come too late to withdraw Saturday’s amended timetable . With another rail strike currently expected this Saturday, 7 December, train companies are warning passengers to plan ahead. As the run up to Christmas attracts more people onto the network, London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway are concerned that less frequent rail users may not be aware of the industrial action.
