Extra train services for Godiva Festival visitors this weekend

West Midlands Railway is providing extra services for rail passengers travelling to Coventry for this year’s Godiva Festival. The free music and arts event, which takes place between Friday 31 August and Sunday 2 September, is expected to attract thousands of people to Coventry’s War Memorial Park.

Euston closure: DO NOT TRAVEL on West Coast main line this bank holiday weekend

West Coast main line train passengers are being urged not to travel to and from London this weekend and next when Euston station will be closed. Customers are instead being advised to plan their journeys on dates other than 25-27 August and 1-2 September – or risk far longer, busier and less comfortable journeys than normal.

In the last 24 hours, two trees have fallen onto the line, badly damaging overhead power lines, and a section of the embankment, north of University station, has become unstable.

Cross City south to remain closed while trees and embankment are made safe

The Cross City line between Birmingham New Street, Longbridge, Redditch and Bromsgrove will remain closed until further notice while engineers remove trees and make safe an embankment. In the last 24 hours, two trees have fallen onto the line, badly damaging overhead power lines, and a section of the embankment, north of University station, has become unstable.

Cross City south services disrupted until at least 1200 today

Trains on the Cross City line between Birmingham New Street and Redditch / Bromsgrove are expected to be disrupted until at least 1200 today (15 Aug). This is due to a number of fallen trees on the line near University and Five Ways stations and damage to the embankment.

Travel advisors will be helping customers with their journey planning and encouraging more people to make sure of the frequent services at Bromsgrove.

West Midlands Railway has launched a personal travel planning pilot scheme in Bromsgrove, aimed at helping passengers make the most of the new services on offer. For the next few weeks, trained advisers will be available at Bromsgrove station and on Cross City line trains to and from Birmingham New Street.
